Obama birth certificate controversy: How blind faith becomes a virtue
When did blind faith become a virtue?
I have asked this before, and the answer is never easy. But to try to simplify it: When the Left has decided something is a fact, it becomes one. Or, in the words of Vladamir Lenin, “A lie told often enough becomes the truth.”
Such is the case with the Obama birth certificate controversy. It is, in fact, a controversy that should never have existed. Continue Reading »
When political correctness comes before safety and honesty
Is race a detail that is too sensitive to be in a police report?
Now that the much anticipated “Beer Summit” is over, Professor Henry Louis Gates, Sgt. James Crowley, and Barack Obama now say that they can move on past the arrest incident and subsequent controversy surrounding the event. Continue Reading »
That Obama sure is a swell guy
A great photo, thanks to National Review Online:
NJ history of corruption stands alone
After a bit of time away from the site, I figured it would only be appropriate to comment on my home state of New Jersey and what went down only a stone’s throw away from my law school in Newark.
Last Thursday, the FBI nabbed 44 people in a massive corruption-money laundering-organ trafficking scandal. Yes, that’s what I said.
And when I went to William and Mary, they told me about the concept of “good ole’ boys” as if I was going to be surprised by it. I had no reason to suspect otherwise; In My Cousin Vinny, Billy Gambini reminds us of “Old South” values: “We think they’re trying to set us up as patsies, Ma. You know how corrupt it is down here. They all know each other.”
But as if by providence, my return to New Jersey could not have come at a better time to remind me that southern state public officials could learn a thing or two about being corrupt from our state leaders. Continue Reading »
Where the Right went wrong
Kevin DeAnna has a great piece on the “Alternative Right” on Taki’s Magazine that is in sync with what a lot of people on AverageJoeLE.com think about the conservative “movement.” It’s also great because he links to New Guard, a project Kevin and I worked on last summer that you should all check out. We’re hoping to have Kevin on board with some articles here from time to time as well.
This is going to have to suffice for an “About” page until I get updates and edits together. Again, my apologies for how slow it has been– law school finals take a lot out of you.
Giving Obama the benefit of the doubt on health care
Maybe we are all giving Obama too much of a hard time about the upcoming health care bill(or BarryCare, ObamaCare, or OCare or O-Who-Cares). It turns out that he might not know enough about it!
As Heritage first broke, Obama seems to have missed a major provision in the bill, and one that has been perhaps the most criticized by those on both sides of the aisle. The “option” part of “public option” is looking more and more like a “choice” like in “pro-choice” in that it could be deadly. Continue Reading »
The American Conservative Union: Fake Conservatives
I happen to have a personal understanding of the work that the American Conservative Union does. I worked there over one summer as an intern, answering the phone and filing donor information.
On Friday, it was revealed by Politico on Friday that the American Conservative Union recently offered their services to Fedex in return for $2 million. Fedex turned the ACU down and subsequently, the ACU was a signatory on a letter disparaging Fedex’s efforts to oppose UPS’s position on union legislation. Continue Reading »
Obama’s crappy pitch a hit with shoddy reporters
Call it sour grapes, but President Barack Obama threw a crappy pitch last night at the 80th Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Not only did Obama fail to make it across home plate, but St. Louis’ beloved first baseman Albert Pujols had to reach out several feet to actually catch the president’s pitch. The Fox Sports’ cameras were situated in such a way that the ball’s progression could not be seen clearly. Only in a brief moment of footage at MLB.com is the camera angle fit to see how the ball missed the mark.

Ernest Hemingway was a Communist Supporter
According to the UK’s Guardian:
Last week, however, saw the publication of Spies: The Rise and Fall of the KGB in America (Yale University Press), which reveals the Nobel prize-winning novelist was for a while on the KGB’s list of its agents in America.
It always interests me when I hear the ferocity with which Hollywood entertainers, academics, and the media oppose the label of “communist.” Nevermind the fact that Hollywood was rampant with communists Continue Reading »
Global warming alarmists can never be satisified
After attacking the car, power, food and just about every other industry, the climate change alarmists have found a new industry to attack: the internet.
According to that CNN article, internet usage someday in the distant future could equal up to 20 percent of the world’s carbon emissions (the number is currently at 2 percent).
While 20 percent may seem like a frightening number, the article misses a huge point: the internet replaces several other ways to pollute.
What would the scaremongers prefer: turning on our cars to go to the library to check out a book (that probably hasn’t been printed on recycled paper) or reading a book online? Would they prefer millions of people driving to malls to do their Christmas shopping or having those same people staying at home ordering their gifts online and having a few UPS/Fed Ex trucks do all of the driving?
When something some day in the future could cause 20 percent of global carbon emissions, it is easy to scream for a need for “green regulation”. However, this would just create an internet tax, making it unaffordable to millions of people, and as a result, there will just be more pollution.
