Enhancing Ted Kennedy’s Campus Progress Memorial
I somehow wound up on the Campus Progress e-mail list a few years ago so I get their weekly e-mails, as well as any other special editions. I got one this week about how to give a tribute to Ted Kennedy. I have a suggestion…
- Right click on the photo above and save it on you desktop.
- Go to http://www.campusprogress.org/page/content/KennedyMemorial/
- For first and last name, enter Mary Jo Kopechne or just put another name (in case they start to block entry or erase entries with her name)
- Make the e-mail whatever you want– your own if you want to see if they send a nasty response (haven’t gotten one yet), or just put a fake one in.
- For city, state and ZIP, I would suggest: Chappaquiddick Island, MA 02539
- For College/University you can put Caldwell College for Women, Boiler Room Girls University, Ted Kennedy Driving school, Ted Kennedy Scuba School, etc.
- Finally, upload the photo
- Listen to liberals complain. For the record, I’m not just doing this because he’s a Democrat: I would do something similar if someone wanted to make a memorial for O.J. Simpson, Charlie Manson or Phil Spector. I’m just not a big fan of celebrity killers.
Whole Foods CEO enrages left-wing foodies with health care editorial
On Tuesday, an unlikely editorial was published in the Wall Street Journal. The article’s actual content is not so unusual for the Journal, but the author is. Whole Foods co-founder and CEO, John Mackey, penne
d an article in which, among other things, he outlines eight deficit-friendly steps toward improving health care.
Titling the piece “The Whole Foods Alternative to ObamaCare,” Mackey begins by quoting the one and only Margaret Thatcher (swoon):
“The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”

NBC selling “Yes we did” t-shirts
Barack Obama’s campaign slogan “Yes we can!” became “Yes we did!” on November 4, 2008, thrilling his supporters nationwide.
Evidently, NBC also was quite pleased with the win, and the news network is still celebrating.
NBC is selling “YES WE DID” t-shirts online as well as at its Manhattan company store in Rockefeller Center.
“We,” NBC? Do you have a mouse in your pocket or are you just admitting how deep you’re in the tank for Obama? Continue Reading »
A “fishy” e-mail I reported to whitehouse.gov
Dear Ms. Linda Douglas:
I saw you on CNN some days ago talking about how important it was to report disinformation on the health care reform system. You wanted to squash the rumors by getting the e-mails of individuals who sent them out.
Prompted by your call to action, I went through my own e-mail and discovered one sent to me on June 16, 2009 from one Barack Obama titled “This is why”. The e-mail address is listed as democraticparty@democrats.org.
You can read it all HERE, but allow me to point out the key parts that really stuck out as things that the administration seems to be against. Continue Reading »
The misunderstood red-headed step-child of the post 9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Act
Last week, President Obama unveiled the Chapter 33 post-9/11 GI Bill. The bill pays for a qualifying veteran’s tuition and fees up to the amount of the most expensive public undergraduate institution in the state in which that university is located, in addition to a generous stipend for costs of living and supplies. While the new bill has received ample publicity and enjoyed the eager anticipation of millions of veterans, a second benefit, the Yellow Ribbon Program (YRP), remains obscured and misunderstood. The case for and against Schumer’s “flash trading” ban
A lot of talk in recent days has been about so called “flash trading” in the stock market, led by Democrat Sen. Chuck Schumer (NY). Flash orders aren’t universally defined, but I’ll simply describe it as “not showing” your bid or ask on the tape before you make a trade (i.e your order is routed and executed at a maximum of a half second). Because tape reading is an ancient craft and the sending of market orders is a regular part of stock trading, I’ll focus more on computer generated trading to show some of the disadvantages of flash trading to the ordinary (even professional) trader and investor, but also to explain why it’s important to the market.

Rules for Right Wingers
Dave Weigel points out the Right’s “new” fascination with Saul Alinsky on the Washington Independent today. It’s a good article, though I would make two minor clarifications.
First, it’s not that new. Over at the Leadership Institute, we’ve been talking about this book for years to everyone who will listen. College Republicans, libertarians, independent groups, and everyone in between have literally had copies of Rules for Radicals thrown at them (in the link I just found, I’m pretty sure I was the “provocative presentation” mentioned earlier). Stop banging your head against a wall…
…And buy ’til it hurts. That was my motto the last two weeks even as I watched unprecedented buying and technical levels screamed overbought . I outspokenly got short this rocket ship around 925 in the S&P, and I made one of the toughest decisions you have to make in this business once we surpassed 960. I took my losses and I flipped my view and got long. One of the tough psychological factors when you’re in this business is that sometimes after being so wrong and watching your trades go against you for days, weeks, even months, it can feel worse to get out of your positions and then watch them work, versus sticking around and losing more money. It sounds like twisted logic but take my word for it. Although I was right, I still didn’t really believe in it, and I still don’t. Continue Reading »
Racial Profiling or Racial Whining?
The media sensationalism caused by police responding to a 911 call over a break-in has caused the media to go into a turning-criminal- into-victims frenzy.
National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” aired this piece by King Anyi Howell who whines that he is often pulled over and has his car searched by police because he is guilty of “driving while black”. However, buried in Mr. Howell’s tirade is an admission that he is often guilty of violating noise requirements, briefly admitting that after the cops leave he “[turns his] music back up”.
