A “fishy” e-mail I reported to whitehouse.gov
Dear Ms. Linda Douglas:
I saw you on CNN some days ago talking about how important it was to report disinformation on the health care reform system. You wanted to squash the rumors by getting the e-mails of individuals who sent them out.
Prompted by your call to action, I went through my own e-mail and discovered one sent to me on June 16, 2009 from one Barack Obama titled “This is why”. The e-mail address is listed as democraticparty@democrats.org.
You can read it all HERE, but allow me to point out the key parts that really stuck out as things that the administration seems to be against.
First of all, the writer referred to the plan as “health care reform.” That seems “fishy” to me, considering that the administration has been calling it “health insurance reform” lately.
Secondly, the whole premise of the e-mail is that the reason that Barack Obama got so many supporters on his side was because of what he promised to do with the health care system and how he would reform and fix it. This e-mail is “fishy” to me because I know that Barack Obama supported the single payer system but has now said that he never supported it.
Can’t you see why I saw this as “fishy”? If this actually is what happened, it would be akin to claiming “we’ve always been at war with Eastasia.”
But perhaps most appalling of all is the final message of the e-mail. Barack Obama says “To prevail, we must once more build a coast-to-coast operation ready to knock on doors, deploy volunteers, get out the facts, and show the world how real change happens in America.” I don’t want to be presumptuous, but I think I may have found where all of the Astroturf supporters are coming from! I believe this e-mail is the one that has put together all of the fraudulent support!
When I clicked on the link where I was directed to donate to the cause of building this Astroturf: Organizing for America. A news report even captured video of them busing in people to Barack Obama’s town hall meeting in Portsmouth, NH. Some amateur folks found out some info on it as well:
I do hope you get the spin facts out to Barack Obama and set him straight on what this health care/insurance reform thing is all about. Thanks so much for setting up this outlet to get the truth out.
Sincerely,
Joe L-E
P.S. I loved you when you were a journalist! Glad to see you still get to report what you think is the news!
